Summer Day Camps The Answer To Idle Hours
66It's Almost Summer!
Summer is right around the corner and parents are wondering what to do with their kids being at home all day. Kids are thinking already about the boring days that stretch before them before they return to school. The answer to both these dilemmas are summer day camps. These programs run in short days for the younger set to full days for the older. Plus, there is extended care for those children whose parents work all day.

Summer Camp Options
The YMCA boasts of beginning this type of program more than a century ago. But when our grandparents were kids summer meant months on a farm or visiting in the city as a break from the routine of home. The glamour of the city beaconed to the farm boy and what would be more fun than romping in a hay loft for someone who lived in the city.
Not so today. Activities for children are found wherever they live. Whether you are looking to learn about the great out of doors or have your sights on becoming a great scientist, these camps are your ticket. You can find Orange County Kids Activities, summer camps in San Diego, or whatever else you're looking for near where you live.
No kids likes to go to summer school, but parents do not want their children to idle away the summer either. We know educational skills are lost if the mind is not kept busy. There is always the route of week long camps that keep them overnight. However, the cost keeps going up and up at these places. An inexpensive choice to these places are the many and varied day camps.
If your child is a computer wiz or just wants to be there are computer classes that will fill his day learning all the complicated skills he desires. Perhaps your child is a piano virtuoso or some other instrument, then the music programs are just what they will enjoy. Have a great singer or conductor in your family, there lessons for them as well.
Animal lovers will find programs that suit their fancy in local zoos and marine parks. Offering a variety of classes that range from learning about animals to how to teach them to do tricks. Many times they may even be allowed to get into the water with the local residence. Nocturnal classes may also be offered.
Many community centers boast of rooms that include dance, lab and gym sports. Most have some kind of swimming pool for the children too. The larger the city the more options may be available. There are local sports camps that hone your children for school sport tryouts. Do not forget the opportunity for children to learn self defense and martial arts.
If you want an old fashion experience for your child it too can be found in the summer day camps experience. Everyone remembers the fun of learning about fire safety while singing around the campfire. Hiking through the forest or romping on the beach is so much fun. There is nothing like enjoying the great out of doors. Then we cannot forget the arts and crafts, camp music, storytelling and friends we met over the summer vacation.

Try canoeing camps -- in this activity, the campers are taught how to paddle the canoe. First they are asked to practice handling a canoe on land. Once they are through with that, they are allowed in the water. Even in the water they practice first few rounds with the trainer and once they get the confidence to canoe on their own, they are allowed canoeing with a fellow camper.
